Roy Ngerng turns to crowdfunding following the success of Leong Sze Hian

Singapore โ€” Singaporean blogger Roy Ngerng has turned to crowdfunding to pay damages to Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

He has already raised S$12,444, he stated in a Facbook put up on Thursday (Apr 7) afternoon, simply the day after he introduced he was reviving his crowdfunding marketing campaign.

He was inspired to take action by his associates and supporters, he stated in a Fb put up on Wednesday (April 6),ย  following the success of blogger Leong Sze Hian who raised $133,000 โ€” the whole damages he has to pay PM Lee โ€” in a crowdfunding marketing campaign in 11 days.

Dwelling in Taiwan since 2016, he stated he has been paying Mr Lee S$100 a month for the previous 5 years.

He was ordered to pay the damages in December 2015 for a weblog put up questioning the Authoritiesโ€™s administration of the Central Provident Fund.

Mr Lee sued him in Could 2014 ย over anย article he wrote on his weblog: The Coronary heart Truths.

Mr Ngering stated in his Fb put up on April 6:

โ€œFor the previous 5 years, Iโ€™ve been paying Lee S$100 a month, transferring cash to Singapore whereas I dwell and work in Taiwan. Nonetheless, based on the cost schedule, I’m supposed to begin paying him S$1,000 a month from April 2021 onwards, till the total quantity is repaid.

The blogger, who labored at a hospital in Singapore, misplaced his job in June 2014.

He contested the 2015 common election as a part of the six-member Reform Occasion workforce of candidates for the Ang Mo Kio Group Illustration Constituency.

In 2016, he left for Taiwan.

โ€œI needed to depart Singapore as a result of I couldnโ€™t discover a job anymore,โ€ he stated in a Fb put up on April 7.

He’s in search of goodwill from Singaporeans, hoping to lift sufficient cash to repay the remaining quantity to Mr Lee. He’s very grateful to any one who donates to his marketing campaign.
